the jig is up, the news is out, they finally found me
Hi kiddies! It is time to squee!! Yay!!

First off, this wonderful quote from Madonna: "Speak your mind but not louder than me." haha I love her so fucking much. Who doesn't really, deep down, feel that way? Exactly. We all want to be educated and hear from each person and see every side of the situation but deep down we expect that we'll be logical  / right and therefore unless you agree with us, shut up. But yeah. She said it during an interview with Lola on the red/pink carpet of Lola's new clothing line Material Girl. Speaking of which, I cannot get over how grown up Lola and Rocco are. I feel so old but then, I suppose, Madonna does, too.

The preview clip for the music video to Shaki's new single "Loca" is out today and I'd like to make a prediction based on these 30 seconds: I will make more icons from this music video than any of Shaki's previous videos. Ohmyeverlovinggod does this look like a fun time. :)

I'm just killing time with this update before Letterman. Shakira will be performing "Loca" and I won't lie I am really excited. The song isn't my personal favorite...at all...but I know it will grow on me. Especially since I find myself singing the chorus at odd times throughout the day. Even if the lyrics aren't her best or the genre isn't my preference, it cannot be denied that her songs are catchy. But I digress. I'm excited to see it performed live mostly because a) seeing her do anything is a pleasure and b) I'm curious how it sounds live (how much will be playback and such).

I have had such a surge of love for Rachel Maddow recently. She's been popping up in my dreams every night for almost two weeks and I must say, I am very much pleased by it. I've always been a fan. Well, I've been a fan a little over two years now. I didn't really know of her until a few months before The Rachel Maddow Show aired. I could listen to her talk about even the most boring subject ever and she'd make it amusing and informative. The fact that she oozes nerdy sex appeal doesn't hurt :) I mean, what more could you ask for from a news show?

I'm not gonna lie. This picture of her with Ira Glass makes my vagina turn to sugar.

So Criminal Minds is back. The last season ended with a cliff hanger..and I gotta say I was severely let down with the season premiere last night. :(  I don't want to spoil it for any of you who have it dvr-ed and haven't seen it yet but suffice it to say that I feel bad for AJ Cook (who plays JJ). The producers already kicked her in the shins by not renewing her contract but to give her this kind of DRIVEL to work with? Uncalled for. On so many levels. I applaud her for doing the best she could with such bullshit lines but, man. I will never look at the writers for this show the same. Here's hoping her send off on the show next week makes up for this crap.

That being said...the episode is worth watching for the lolz you'll get from the scene I'm referring to, for the Emily Prentiss nose!porn and of course for Tim Curry.

Also..LOOK AT THIS.

I will miss my Hotch's Angels forever.

My mom is so cute. She thought she was buying me a bunch of bookmarks with pictures of death (grim reapers and such) because apparently I am still obsessed with death like I was as a nine year old...oh wait. haha Anyhoo..she thought that's what she was getting me but instead what arrived was Bookmarked For Death by Lorna Barrett. I thought I would die laughing. It is a "cozy mystery" which is a genre I didn't even know existed. I totally read it of course haha It takes place in NH and that makes me think the author might be from NH (it's a series and all of them take place in Stoneham, NH) and so therefore it's a NH author who IS NOT Dan Brown. I felt obligated. haha

Currently I am reading alongside each other Pride and Prejudice (again, but this time I don't absolutely hate it like I did the other two times I tried to get through it) and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. The latter is amusing but my friend Bowie was right, the editing takes away from the fun. I also think with the exception of certain authors (Matheson and King come to mind) Zombies are best left to movies. They are a visual monster and unless you're wonderful with descriptions...it's going to fall flat.

I'm also reading The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. I've never read it before but people have told me to for years so I am now. :) Mostly because it was in the same section as the Austen novels and I figured I'd be bored with those and so I grabbed this thinking I'd enjoy it. I was wrong about the other books but right about this one :)

I'm still rereading all of Stephen King's books (published under Stephen King so none of the Bachman books) in chronological publishing order. I just finished The Dead Zone  for the 5th time and you guys!! I think it may be my favorite of his early books. Yes. I like it even more than The Stand. This is easy to say because the uncut version of The Stand wasn't published until much later. So I am comparing the ABRIDGED version with The Dead Zone. I just feel that for The Dead Zone the stiffness of his earlier writing actually works for the story where it sometimes falls short such as The Shining, which is a fantastic story but not his best writing. It's a nice crisp novel. I urge you all to read it. :)

That's it for now. I'm off to watch Shaki on The Letterman Show :)

You have a birthday coming up in December, yes? Perhaps I should get you a present :) Do you prefer paperback or hardcover? Used or new?

Aw, you're sweet. :) I don't really have a preference between paperback and hardcover but pre-loved books bring me glee. :)

Nah. I'm just a lover of books and if you want one you should have it. :) Do you have The Talisman yet by Stephen and Peter Straub? That is required reading for my friends. I may have to snag a copy of that for you as well. :)

I don't believe I do but I see it is somewhere near the end of The Dark Tower reading list you sent me (that I am going to finish someday although I think I need to start over at this point). :)

khasdjghjshgdjkahgd the list!! I forgot I gave you one. OHHHHH!!! SQUEEEEEEE!!!

Starting over is a good idea. Do you like audiobooks? I bet I could find the first few for you..and since you sometimes have a bunch of spare time at school you could listen while you watched people do stupid shit :)

What ones have you read? What list did I give you? I gave you a slightly different one from Erin's. I tried to tailor them to your dislike of super scary stuff :)

Haha that might work, actually. And I appreciate that. :) I was dumb and deleted the ones I had already read as I read them but these are the ones I hadn't gotten to yet:

the drawing of the three
the stand
dt 3 the waste lands
dt 4 wizard and glass
salem's lot
dt 5 wolves of the calla
insomnia
"low men in yellow coats" - hearts in atlantis
"the little sisters of eluria" - everything's eventual
the talisman
dt 6 song of susannah
"everything's eventual" - everything's eventual
dt 7 the dark tower

I'm pretty sure I had only read the first two in the Dark Tower series, though.

SQUEE!!!Yeah I cut a LOT out for you. :) Mostly because I knew you'd WANT to go read them later. If I put them all in one huge list you'd feel overwhelmed. hehehe See? It's a plot!! haha

Yeah I recall you reading the first two and since Drawing of the Three is the second book you can cross that off. :) I am pretty sure my library has audiobooks available for download and I'll see if I can't wrangle a way for you to get to them. :)

kjsdghasjkdghjasdghkjasghdhasdjkghaksjdghjasdghasdg You need to get MOVING on these little missy. When the terrible movies and show start up you are REQUIRED to watch so I can cry on your proverbial shoulder and you'll understand haha

Oh. I dunno why I did that, haha. Alrighty then. :)
