That's an interesting view point. I disagree of course but it's still interesting :)

It's hard to explain why I disagree without spoiling anything for my friends who haven't read the whole series yet...yargh!

I think they were all too much alike in the fact that they were badasses with flaws. So if she's a marysue then they all are and I don't think any of the guys were... **shrugs**

I know what you mean though..she kept her cool during the whole Mia thing and it just seemed so unbelievable that someone could stay relatively calm throughout that ordeal...but she is a fucking gunslinger. Eddie kept his cool when he was tied up on the beach. Jake kept his cool through the house and with his friend in Wolves of the Calla. Roland always keeps his cool. How are they any more real than her for that?

I think for most people it stems back to the fact that they couldn't stand Detta/Odetta in The Drawing of the Three...to be fair I hated her the first time I read the series. I was so annoyed with the whole storyline. Then I reread it and with all the knowledge of where the story goes and what happens I realized how fucking awesome she is. All the variations of her are important to who she becomes and how she helps the ka-tet. The same can be said for the rest of the members. Every little thing builds off the previous bit of information...it's like math except fun. :)
